La Pajarita was founded in 1852, so its pretty safe to say that this candy shop has stood the test of time and has gained some serious street-cred. Naturally, tradition and timelessness are what make this place truly special. The name comes from the founders' friendship with the Spanish poet and philosopher, Miguel de Unamuno, who was very found of origami.
The 'Pajaritas de Chocolate' (chocolates in the shape of origami birds) are among the most popular treats here, as well as the hard candies that come in a long list of interesting flavors. Oh, and we can’t forget the packaging! The boxes, bags, and gift wrap are very elegant, works of art in themselves.
La Pajarita, where Lauren Bacall was a patron, is one of Madrid oldest sweets shop.
