MAJA | Spanish Passion
The Maja Myrurgia history dates back to the year 1916. Esteban Monegal, Myrurgia's founder, was a well-known artist, sculptor and violonist who set out to create this scent as a work of art. He got inspired by watching the dancer Tórtola Valencia, muse of paintors, artists and intelectuals, giving the brand a unique Spanish character. Monegal asked the Porta Brothers to paint the first tableau of the dancer, wearing a typical red dress, which would become the brand’s emblem. This exotic and enigmatic dancer captivated half of the world in the early twentieth century.
