Maderas de Oriente glass flask with an oval base and a stepped triangular profile, topped with a black bakelite stepped cylindrical cap. The label is irregular: the lower part reserves a rectangle for the brand name, while the upper part develops in the form of ascending wavy lines, depicting an oriental architectural motif in white against a blue sky background. The design of the Maderas de Oriente cologne exract by Myrurgia was one of the greatest achievements of the artist and entrepreneur Esteve Monegal, who, thanks to the financial support of his father, Ramón Monegal, succeeded in introducing his products into the emerging world of cosmetics in Spain in 1918. Product design became a perfect barometer of the desires of society at the time; in the 1920s, the art deco aesthetic was transferred to packaging and containers, incorporating stylized plant forms, staggered shapes and geometries that made cosmetics an object of desire.
