Agua Lavanda Puig is one huge classic amongst Spanish eau-de-colognes. In fact it instantly became a classic when Antonio Puig launched its iconic Agua Lavanda in 1940.

In the 1950s, renowned Catalan designer André Ricard collaborated with Antonio Puig, one of the founder’s sons. Their work gave rise to the Puig logo and the redesigned Agua Lavanda bottle, famously known as the Barcelona Bottle, launched in 1962. The Barcelona Bottle received widespread acclaim and remained in use for decades. At the time its bottle was Art Deco inspired, tall and thin... In 1963 André Ricard created what became an icon of Spanish design. This bottle was inspired, both in colour and shape, in ancient perfume bottles from old Rome and Greece. He then added a most distinctive cap, made out of cedar wood, and this one was fixed to the bottle using natural fibres wax-sealed to the bottom of the bottle.
