Vintage Myrurgia luxury perfumed round soaps set, sealed and unused. The scented Maja soaps, rich in lather and olive oil, they have a very soft, subtle scent that lingers on the skin hours after bathing.


Authentic Maja, a rich, spicy floral fragrance. Perfectly blended. Carnation and green notes and touch of vetiver in the base. Warm and sensual. Made in Spain by Myrurgia.

​Launched by the design house of Myrurgia in 1918, Maja is classified as a refined, subtle, oriental fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of a balanced blend of citrus, lavender, spice and woods. It is recommended for evening wear. The packaging illustrates the image of the dancer Tórtola Valencia from Seville. This exotic and enigmatic dancer captivated half of the world in the early twentieth century.

Monegal created Maja as a fragrance embodying Spanish passion and seduction. The advertising design for the La Maja line of soaps and perfumes was created by the painter and advertising executive Eduard Jener, inspired by the dancer Carmen Tortola Valencia and her show, La Tirana. Eduard Jener, along with Monegal, achieved an excellent presentation and advertising campaign for their products. The muse of soap: La Maja.

Carmen Tortola Valencia was born on June 12, 1885, in Seville. At the age of three, she traveled with her parents to London. In 1889, her parents emigrated to Mexico, and she remained in London, taken in by a wealthy family where she studied languages, music, and dance. In 1906, her guardian died, leaving her destitute. Tortola considered her options and decided to dedicate herself to dance. In 1908, she debuted at the Gaiety Theatre in London with the musical "La Havana," performing as La Bella Valencia. Gradually, she began creating her own choreographies, imbuing Orientalism and traditional Spanish themes with her personal style. She embarked on her first European tour, which began in Vienna and ended at the Folies Bergère in Paris. She was a muse to intellectuals and artists of the time. Ignacio Zuloaga painted her most famous portrait in 1912. She was always supported by unwavering friends such as Rubén Darío, Pío Baroja, and Valle-Inclán.

​There is much more to Myrurgia than Maja soaps, though with her fan, her kiss-curls and her mantilla, the red and black Spanish dancer adorning the label has become the icon of folkloric Spain.
