COLONIA 1916 by Myrurgia Original Formula Eau de Cologne 205 ml
1916 Colonia of Myrurgia is an icon of Spanish perfumery, originally created in 1916 by the Russian perfumer Meisonier for the house of Myrurgia, founded in Barcelona by the sculptor Esteve Monegal i Prat.
Myrurgia's "Colonia 1916" can certainly be described as a very classic, very summery scent that relies on high-quality fragrance oils and brings joy in higher temperatures. A citrusy-bergamot start, spiced up by a rosemary bush that adds to the aromatic breadth. Finely crafted, pleasantly harmonized.
Launched by the Myrurgia perfume house, it won a gold medal at the 1925 Paris International Exposition for its classic formula, which includes lemon, bergamot, rosemary, and orange blossom. Its classic and fresh style, with citrus and floral top notes, made it a staple in Spanish homes for decades.

Created by Russian perfumer Meisonier for Myrurgia, founded in 1916 by the Catalan sculptor Steban Monegal Prat. The bottle and decoration of 1916 Eau de Cologne are imbued with the spirit of the Art Deco era, the same which won the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts, and in 1925 the recognition of the Universal Exhibition in Paris.
The Orientalism, the stamp of Art Deco, the aesthetics of the ballets Russes of Serge Diaghilev and objective photography are some trend that marked the “golden age” of the firm Myrurgia. Myrurgia has always reflected artistic passion in its carefully produced products. Bohemia glass bottles, exquisite presentations and endless attention to detail have made its products a resounding success. Its rugged and citrus aroma, addressed to women but, after his success with the male audience, created a concept of family cologne. The history of Myrurgia began in 1916 when Esteve Monegal i Prat, a Catalan sculptor and intellectual, transformed his father's Ramón Monegal modest drugstore into a business influenced by the major artistic movements of the time: Noucentisme, oriental subtleties, Art Deco, and other avant-garde elements. Thus, during the 1920s and 1930s, Myrurgia was the figurehead of design and advertising, with a large group of collaborators, including graphic designer Eduard Jener. He is responsible for the firm's most iconic creations, such as the artistic presentations of Polvos Morisca, Orgia, Maja, Flor de Blasón, Suspiros de Granada, Colonia 1916 and Clavel de España, among others. Another important cartoonist associated with Myrurgia was Alfred Opisso Cardona. Myrurgia's relationship with the arts also extended to architecture, which is why, in 1926, Antoni Puig Gairal drew up plans for the firm's elegant headquarters in Barcelona. |
