Muscatel Malaga Raisins 'Pasas de Malaga PDO' 400g
The most select raisins in Spain are undoubtedly those from the Axarquía and Manilva districts of Málaga, in Andalusia, from the famous Muscatel variety, with its extra sweet flavor, which apparently dates back to Roman times.
This seasonal autumn product is worth waiting for: rich, sweet moscatel raisins on the vine that have been dried in the last rays of the Malaga summer sun. The vines also dress cheese-boards beautifully.
Malaga Raisins is the sun dried mature fruit of Malaga Muscatel or Muscat of Alexandria , harvested and dried in the Axarquia region.
Natural sun drying is traditional in the area, and the only method allowed by the regulation. It is what makes the product maintains organoleptic characteristics that gives it a unique in flavor, texture and color.
The bunches of grapes are carefully arranged on the surface of ‘paseros’ for approximately 10 days, depending on weather conditions. Once dried they are shelled manually with scissors, involving all family members. Very limited supply so enjoy while you can.
