The eau de cologne Agua de Colonia Concentrada Álvarez Gómez, in production since 1912, is a classic of this Madrid perfume house, founded in 1899 by Herminio Álvarez Gómez and today the oldest establishment of its kind still in business. The updated packaging is the work of Fernando Gutiérrez, the star graphic designer formerly with the London studio Pentagram. The cologne, containing notes of lavender, lemon, geranium, eucalyptus, and bergamot orange, which has refreshed and perfumed whole generations, is found in a range of basic toiletries, including soap, shower gel, body moisturizing cream, and bath salts. Álvarez Gómez produces several lines of cosmetics, including Balneario, targeting sunbathers.
